Editorial Policy
This policy governs all content published on They Knew. Every contributor, moderator, and administrator is bound by these standards. Violations may result in content removal and account suspension.
Editorial Standards
- Factual — Every published claim must be backed by verifiable evidence from identified sources. Speculation, opinion, and unsubstantiated assertions are not permitted.
- Neutral — Content must be written in a neutral, encyclopedic tone. No editorializing, no advocacy, no loaded language. The facts speak for themselves.
- Documented — All claims must include direct links to primary sources. Secondary reporting is accepted only as supplementary context, never as the sole basis for verification.
Language Guidelines
The following language rules apply to all content on the platform, including claim descriptions, comments, and moderator notes:
| Never Use | Use Instead |
|---|---|
| "Conspiracy theory" | "Claim", "Prediction", "Assertion" |
| "Cover-up" | "Suppressed evidence", "Withheld information" |
| "Whistleblower" (unverified) | "Source", "Claimant" |
| "They lied" | "Official statements contradicted by subsequent evidence" |
| "Wake up" / "Sheeple" | Do not use. Content removed on sight. |
| "Exposing the truth" | "Documenting verified claims" |
| "Deep state" | Name the specific agency or institution |
| "Mainstream media" | Name the specific outlet (e.g., "The New York Times reported…") |
Correction Policy
We take accuracy seriously. When errors are identified:
- Factual errors are corrected immediately upon verification. The original text is preserved in the claim's edit history.
- A correction notice is appended to the claim, including the date of correction and a description of what was changed.
- If a correction results in a status change (e.g., from "Verified" to "Partially Verified"), the status change follows the standard Status Change Rules outlined in our Methodology.
- Users who report legitimate errors are credited in the correction notice (with their consent).
- Repeated publication of inaccurate information by a contributor may result in reduced trust level or account suspension.
