Per CBS News, Channel2Now, and WJLA, Avriana sat down with Secret Service and Montgomery County Police in Rockville, Maryland after the shooting. She told them her brother "made radical statements" and that his "rhetoric constantly referenced a plan to do something to fix the issues with today's world." She was aware he had purchased a shotgun and two handguns from CAP Tactical Firearms and was storing them at their parents' Torrance home — without their parents' knowledge.
She had the information for months. She did not contact authorities until after the attack. The reason offered: the rhetoric, in isolation, was not actionable. That is the standard threshold response to family warnings about extremist relatives — does not have the resources to investigate every angry sibling. But the post-attack record now has Avriana on file as having known, in detail, what her brother was preparing.
